It is a great time of year! Vacations, suntans, shopping, reunions, fresh squeezed lemonade, watermelon, and the list goes on!
However, as we near the end of the summer and begin to our “returns” (return to work, return to school, return to the status quo and other obligations), I want to suggest a “return” to hope. In our country, our communities, even our own families, hope is becoming more elusive by the day. Maybe it is because bad news seems to outweigh good news on news channels, social media platforms and conversations. Maybe it is because the world seems to be changing right before our eyes and not for the better! Maybe because our lives have become too busy, too tiring, or too predictable.
Friends, no matter the reason, Jesus came to bring hope to our world and we who live in it. The world has a lot of good things to offer, but none as good as the joy, peace and hope that Jesus brings. As summer ends and we “return” to the hamster wheel, I invite you to make a return to hope by returning to church to hear that tried and true story of Jesus and his love. Maybe you have just been away for vacation. Maybe you have been taken away by the burdens of this life for far too long. Either way, now is a great time to return. Return to Jesus. Return to church. Return to hope.
I’ll keep a hug waiting!
